Originally a computer engineer, Nicolas created and ran a successful software development company specializing in SaaS before founding SaaSpirin. His discussions with software clients and experience sourcing marketing content for his own company made him realize that there was a gap in the SaaS and MarTech content market—a lack of ongoing marketing support for companies that weren’t content experts. That gap is what eventually led him to establish SaaSpirin.
As the title of founder implies, Nicolas is the brains behind the concept of SaaSpirin. As CEO, he’s very involved in everything non-delivery-related, from sales to market campaign ideation, process optimization, and general strategy.
Nicolas has a lightning-quick ability to pick up on even the smallest errors and inconsistencies in written content, from typos to font errors. He’s also an uber-organized planner who basically lives inside his calendar—which, he admits, comes with its own challenges.
While SaaSpirin is Nicolas’s baby, it’s not his only love. He’s also equal parts fitness enthusiast (he does powerlifting) and foodie. On top of that, he’s a self-taught musician who’s currently learning composition, and he’d love to have the chance to score movies one day.
Lisa brings two decades of experience helping B2B brands build their industry position and grow their user base through content marketing. Before joining SaaSpirin, she worked with SaaS content agency Animalz as senior marketing manager, held multiple roles with an SEO agency, and managed the marcomm team at an EdTech company. To round it all out, she holds an MBA.
Lisa has been with us since the start: She helped set up SaaSpirin’s processes and built our team to offer content services to SaaS companies. In the beginning, Lisa was our strategist, editor, coordinator, and recruiter (yes, all at once!) Now, as the chief content strategist, she consults not only on SaaSpirin’s content but on all aspects of the business.
Lisa has the ability to anticipate what a target market wants to learn about. She digs in to answer the hard questions that others skirt around when it comes to researching and creating content. This helps immensely when it comes to distribution and engagement, since her content is always unique.
Lisa has been referenced in a couple of books, including David Meerman Scott's original BusinessWeek bestseller, The New Rules of Marketing & PR. She got her start in content in Japan as a copywriter for telecom giant NTT over 20 years ago.
With over six years of experience in the content marketing industry, Margaret possesses a wide-reaching knowledge of all things content and is a self-described “digital marketing jack of all trades.” While she’s not busy creating compelling content plans for SaaSpirin clients, she works as a freelance writer and is the digital marketing manager for a tea company.
As a content strategist for SaaSpirin, Margaret works with SaaS companies to ensure they have a strategy that aligns with their content goals. She tirelessly researches niches and competitors, conducts keyword research, and creates comprehensive content plans for SaaSpirin’s clients.
Margaret has an unmatched ability to jump right in with clients in various specialized industries—and it’s her love of reading that enables her to do that. She feels that reading widely helps her expand her knowledge on a wide range of topics and understand what a client needs. From content marketing blogs and articles to fantasy doorstoppers, Margaret loves taking a deep dive into the topics she’s passionate about.
Margaret lives in sunny Honolulu, Hawaii with her two tuxedo cats and is a published poet.
Andrea has been a certified editor for about 15 years. Eventually, Andrea became a full-time freelance editor with a focus on SaaS and ESL. Her work has included proofreading financial statements (snooze), creating hotel descriptions for an online travel company, editing resources for schools in developing countries, and more. She also writes blogs for a couple of language-learning platforms.
As a SaaSpirin editor, Andrea is the last checkpoint before content is delivered to clients or uploaded. She works with writers and the SaaSpirin coordinators to ensure that every piece of content meets clients’ expectations. She also helps with the recruitment of new writers.
As an editor, Andrea’s superpower—probably unsurprisingly—is correcting words. Fixing sentences with bad syntax and abolishing less-than-perfect adjectives are just two elements of this (pretty boring) superpower.
Andrea loves to cook (but hates following recipes) and enjoys camping with her husband and son around their home province of British Columbia, Canada.
She also lived in a remote village in Uganda, where she was once attacked by safari ants in the middle of the night.
Mara started out as an SEO specialist before becoming a content strategist. Working on SEO, she saw the power of content marketing to make websites rank—part of which involves publishing regular content. But in her past roles, Mara began to notice a major roadblock: companies’ lack of motivation to produce content. Her knowledge of the importance of consistently publishing content is what led Mara to SaaSpirin, as it’s at the core of what we do.
Mara’s role as a content coordinator includes planning and scheduling clients’ content calendars. She also helps with keyword research and ensures that published posts follow SEO guidelines for better optimization. She’s also instrumental in making sure articles are delivered on time by following up with clients and writers (even if they get sick of her, she says!)
Mara’s ability to stay cool and collected while managing content is second to none. That partly stems from her ability to tune into the needs of SaaSpirin’s clients and team.
Mara boasts a collection of folklore and fairy tales from around the world. It all began when she would read bedtime stories to her daughter. Eventually, they graduated to a collection of books ranging from well-known Grimm’s fairy tales to Norwegian folktales.
After five years working as a marketing coordinator, Dorothy decided to pivot into the freelance realm to try her hand at a different area of marketing. Her drive to learn about new aspects of marketing led her to her current content-marketing-focused role at SaaSpirin, which she finds both very interesting and challenging.
As a content coordinator, Dorothy is a link between SaaSpirin’s freelance writers and clients. She assigns article topics to writers and also takes care of CMS publishing for our clients’ websites.
Dorothy is a very empathetic person, which serves her well in her role as a content coordinator. Her empathetic approach enables her to see things from different perspectives and form connections with writers and clients alike.
Dorothy loves playing online battle games in her spare time. She’s also an extremely light packer when traveling. By spending two to three days planning, she can figure out exactly what she’ll need for a week-long vacation and can fit it all in a single backpack.
We’re always looking for talented content professionals. See content marketing jobs at SaaSpirin and get in touch if you’re interested in joining our team.
